~Book Delivery Program~

(Winslow residents only)

Library volunteers choose books, based on a patron's reading preference, from the large print or regular collections and deliver those books to "shut-in" patrons at his/her home or residence facility. Usually the same volunteer works with the patron on a regular basis and performs the service approximately every other week or as needed. Call the library for details at 872-1978.

Circulation Policies

Books/Audio-books - two (2) weeks.
Videotapes/DVDs - two (2) weeks.

Library Cards

All Winslow residents, town employees and taxpayers are eligible for a library card.

Children may apply for a card when they reach the age of five (5) years old.

No fee is charged for library cards issued to Winslow residents, taxpayers, or town employees. A fee of $1 is charged for replacing lost cards.

Non-resident Fees

Non-residents will be charged $30 for their first year’s membership and $25 for renewals. A nonresident card will allow the holder's family to borrow if the family member's name is listed on the back of the card. We also have a part-year resident card  for $10 for 4 months.

Borrowing Privileges

New card holders are limited to:

·  two (2) items the first time they borrow, and

·  only two (2) videos or DVDs each time they borrow for the first six (6) weeks of their membership.

Audio-books & Movies

The library has a collection of audio-books, videotapes, DVDs, music cassettes,  CDs  and CD-ROM programs which may be borrowed. The policy for borrowing these items is available at the circulation desk. Only four (4) videos, DVDs or CDs total per household may be checked out at one time. Videos and DVDs are nonrenewable.

Circulation Limits

Eight items may be checked out at one time to individual patrons unless special permission is granted by the director. The latest issue of each magazine does not circulate until the next arrives. Patrons may photocopy from magazines as needed.

Books may be renewed over the phone once for an additional two week loan period but then items must be returned to the library.

Overdue Materials

Overdue books are charged a fee of $ .05 per day, up to a maximum of $3.00 per book. Books that are on loan for only 7 days have a $ .25 per day fine, up to a maximum of $3.00 per book.  Overdue videos/DVDs can not be renewed and are charged a fine of $1.00 per day up to a maximum fine of $3.00 per item.

Patrons with extremely overdue materials may be subject to legal action and lose their library privileges. Patrons with fines in excess of $15 will have their borrowing privileges suspended until fines are paid or arrangements are made to pay them.

Reserves

Patrons may request to have a book placed on reserve. The item will be held for 2 days after the patron has been contacted. After that, the patron's name moves to the bottom of the list and the next person is notified. If there are two or more patrons waiting for the book, it will be placed on Special Reserve and checked out for only 7 days.

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary loan is available for a flat fee of $1 per item borrowed to defray the cost of postage and/or delivery. Books, fiction and nonfiction, as well as magazine articles may be requested. InfoNet and URSUS may be used to help find books. Fines of $.25 per day are charged for Interlibrary Loan materials which are overdue. Interlibrary loans can also be ordered using wplill@winslow.lib.me.us.
